The term stewardship is often associated with financial giving with in the church. That is part of what stewardship is, but not all. Stewardship is defined as the running or management of the household of another. In the case of our church, we (not only the Stewardship Committee), are responsible for the management of our Lord’s house. And while that may include the actual building (which is in constant need of attention), I think it includes more. We come together as a community in Christ to carry on His word in actions and in words. We can do this by reaching out to others in our greater communities to offer them the peace and guidance that Christ provides. We can do this by contributing to activities in our church that support our church community. We can do this by supporting our church’s program and activities that manage God’s household. Some of these involve financial support, but most simply involve active involvement and participation. It is OUR job to manage our Lord’s house, and what WE do, and WE do it, is up to us.
